This document will give the person you nominate the right to act on your behalf, to whatever extent you specify.
A general power of attorney can only be given when a person is capable of conducting their affairs but decides that someone else should act on their behalf. This can be for a number of reasons, they may be in a better position to act or may be in the right location, e.g. when a solicitor or spouse acts for a client in the sale of a property or where you move abroad and give someone the power of attorney over your property.
In the event that the person giving the power of attorney is incapable of making decisions or is in a position where they can no longer handle their own affairs then the general power of attorney ceases to have effect.
