Giving trade credit has its risks, and one way of minimising the risk is to get references for any potential customer.
Ask a potential customer to supply you with contacts details for trade references. Then send this letter to them.
Asking for trade references will give you peace of mind as no one will or at least should give a favourable reference for anybody that makes a lot of late payments or did not pay at all.
Any information is good information. The more information you get, the more you are informed. This will help you towards making a better decision as to whether a customer should be given credit or not.
