What is Encryption -
Scrambling information to prevent unauthorised disclosure or modification
using mathematical techniques. Techniques normally use an encryption algorithm
with a key to ensure that only the intended recipient can read the information.
Encryption can be either:
Symmetric (where the same key is used to encrypt and decrypt)
Asymmetric (where two mathematically related keys are used, one (the public
key) to encrypt, and the other (the private key) to decrypt).
