What is SHA256

This is an abbreviation for Secure Hash Algorithms 256. Also know as SHA2 It is a widely-used cryptographic hash function with a 256-bit hash value. Used for file authentication, checksum, check digits, fingerprints, ciphers and error detecting. See Universal Hash and HMAC Generator.
